(Brasilia) - The Treasury is looking for online gambling companies operating in the country to join the national anti-corruption and money laundering programme.

Brazil: Online gambling in the anti-corruption programme

The regulation of online gambling in Brazil, according to Fred Justo, general coordinator for monitoring money laundering and other crimes at the Ministry of Finance, should be discussed among the three branches of government and the various ministries.

The Ministry of Finance wants online gambling companies operating in Brazil to join the National Strategy to Combat Corruption and Money Laundering. The announcement was made at the UN's Ambition 2030 event on Thursday (4 April) in São Paulo.

According to Fred Justo, talks are underway to make gambling part of the programme, a network between the federal government, the legislature and the judiciary to fight corruption.

Justo believes that the regulation of online gambling in Brazil should be discussed among the three branches of government and in different ministries, mainly through the Ministry of Justice.
